In The Heart Of France’s Chateaux Country – A Country Cottage For 6 – Les Jonquilles

Pontlevoy is well situated as we are in the very heart of the château district and it is easy to reach most of the chateaux, towns and parks such as the Chaumont International Garden Festival only 12 km away.
The cottage is called "Les Jonquilles". It is an old stone house, beautifully restored, on one level . There are 6 rooms, among them 2 bedrooms; one is a more spacious one with 2 large comfortable beds and rustic furniture. and the other smaller bedroom with one double-bed. The shower room with 2 showers ( one in a cubicle) has just been renovated and modernized (separate WC). Other rooms include a comfortable living room/TV room, and a well-furnished dining room. The kitchen with high and wooden cupboards is traditional. The spacious cottage is suitable for a couple alone feeling very much ‘at home’, or a couple with their children or a couple willing to share the cottage with a few guest friends. It is a tiled floor except for the large bedroom. The windows, outside doors and the rustic shutters although modern are made of high quality PVC. You have two outside doors offering an independent access to the terrace. You will find in a file a bilingual documentation( French & English ) dealing with household appliances, utensils, recommendations, useful vocabulary lists. A second file provides more detailed information and proposes14 different illustrated itineraries to suggest ideas and provide routes for your outings. There is a paved terrace laid out in front of the cottage which overlooks a courtyard covered with pebbles. You can eat, read, rest, relax, sunbathe or enjoy the quiet evening atmosphere admiring the starry sky and the night-birds. You can stroll in the owner’s garden located behind the cottage, admiring the flowers.
If you are interested in learning or re-learning French, the owner, a French native with a wealth of teaching experience abroad offers tailor-made lessons whatever your level and your needs. 2019 is the Renaissance year celebrating that important artistic period and all the inventions of the famous painter and artist Leonardo da Vinci ( It is his 500th anniversary ) who spent many years in the Loire Valley.and mainly in Amboise.
Every year in July or August there is a famous music festival attracting many classical music lovers.

CHECK-IN TIME for arrival is after 4.30 p.m. and not later than 8 p.m. CHECK-OUT time is 10 a.m.
Rates vary according to the seasons: low season-weekly rate:€420 / mid-season: €480 / high season:€540 / peak season :€580
40% deposit at the date of booking / balance 60% to be paid no later than 8 weeks before arrival. If you are booking a cottage less than 8 weeks before arrival the full amount is required. A €100 refundable safety deposit required, at the time of the second or final payment.
Bed and toilet linen ( sheets, pillow cases, towels ) and kitchen linen ( tea towels ) are extra and available on request if needed.

Railway line ( Tours-Vierzon)-the nearest railways station is Montrichard ( Ponbtlevoy is 8km away )

Motorway A10 ( Paris-Tours-Bordeaux) ( exit 17 in Blois) and follow ther River Loire ( right bank)*
Pontlevoy is less than 30 km away
* however as many holidaymakers tend to get lost in Blois with three different bridges it is better to cross the River Loire iin Chaumont-sur-Loire -follwing the river Loire on the right bank going towards Tours - In Chaumont-sur-Loire follow the D 114 - Pontlevoy is 12 km away
Express Roadway A 85 ( Lyon- Vierzon -Tours- ) exit 12 ( Saint-Romain -sur-Cher ) near Noyers-sur-Cher) go through Monthou-sur-Cher or Bourré to reach Pontlevoy

the cottage is very close to ' CocciMarket' a mini supermarket open daily ( except on Monday)
from 7.30to 12.30 / and from 3 p.m to 8 p.m.
you are also close to a pizzeria, a bar, a baker's shop, the post office, the town-hall, a newspaper shop, a hairdresser, a bank. a nice hotel, a garage machanic, a dentist, a chemist, 2 doctors and several state-registered nurses
In the village you can buy some goat's cheese , visit a wine-grower and taste his different wines ( red, rosé, white, Créman de Loire ( between sparkling wine and champagne )
You can play tennis in the shaded park close to the cottage, play pétanque in a petanque area , practise horse-riding ( just outside the village) , walk through smaller roads , ramble through forest paths or follow the nature trails ( sentiers balisés)
